About
We are a team of motivated students from the Bern University of Applied Sciences, all studying in the field of wood. As students of the wood sector, we share a strong connection to the material itself and to the people, cultures, and industries around it.
Together, we are organizing INTERFOB 2026, an international student conference that brings together students from across the world who are engaged in forestry, wood technology, and the broader wood industry. INTERFOB is held annually in a different countrys and is entirely planned and executed by students of the host institution.
The core idea of INTERFOB 2026 is “Wood – Connecting Worlds.”
Wood connects nature and technology, tradition and innovation, education and industry. Through lectures, excursions, company visits, and social events, INTERFOB creates a platform for exchange, collaboration, and international networking among students and professionals.
As the organizing committee, we are responsible for every aspect of the event – from the academic program and logistics to partnerships and social activities. Our goal is to create an inspiring environment where ideas are shared, connections are built, and long-lasting international friendships emerge.
We warmly invite students from all across the world to join INTERFOB 2026 and experience the power of international exchange.
At the same time, we welcome companies and partners from the wood sector who wish to support and engage with the next generation of professionals.

Your INTERFOB journey begins on Sunday, as all teams arrive individually. From 18:00 onwards, we will gather for dinner, followed by the grand opening of our bar – the perfect way to start an unforgettable week together.
Monday morning kicks off with the traditional university presentations, so please come prepared to introduce your institution. In the afternoon, we will host teambuilding activities to help everyone connect and get to know each other. After dinner, we celebrate the International Evening – a highlight where cultures, food, and traditions from all over the world come together. Make sure to bring foods and drinks from your country, cause that will be our dinner.
On Tuesday, we will set off on our first excursions, visiting companies, construction sites, and schools. Throughout the rest of the day, there will be various cultural trips, and some of you will even have the opportunity to take part in a competition in the traditional Swiss sport of Schwingen. In the evening, we will round off the day with a themed «Bad Taste» party.
Wednesday is fully dedicated to excursions to give you deeper insights into the Swiss timber industry and beyond. In the evening, we invite you to the Swiss Evening – expect traditional food, music, local drinks, and plenty of dancing.
Thursday starts with morning challenges such as volleyball and other activities. In the afternoon, we shift focus to a series of lectures, offering insights into current research and the latest developments in the Swiss timber industry.
Friday, our last full day, is dedicated to a building contest where creativity and teamwork come together. In the evening, we will celebrate the week with our traditional Gala Dinner, followed by one final party in the heart of Switzerland.
On Saturday, it is time to say goodbye and begin your journey home – hopefully with new friendships, inspiration, and unforgettable memories.
For those who still haven’t celebrated enough after this week, there will be a festival following Interfob, also taking place in Melchtal: the so-called Wood Frequency Festival.
